Biography

Joshua Jenkins’ art is exceptionally expressive that is undeniably influenced by Street Art and the Expressionist movements of the 20th Century. Even though the artist has had some college education in art he still considers himself self-taught. Jenkins likes to challenge traditional rules when it comes to working in his mediums as he mixes them in a raw and unabashed manner that makes each of his works truly unique. The artist is continuously evolving but primarily focuses on the human figure with a subtle queer perspective. The figures in each of the artist’s works are distortedly represented through energetic lines that encompass an array of emotions—adding a layer of mystery and profoundness to each individual work.

Joshua Jenkins primarily grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, but lived briefly in Central Kentucky for High School. He graduated from Marist College (Poughkeepsie, NY) in 2010 with a BA in Digital Media and a Minor in Studio Art. Jenkins currently resides in Louisville, KY.
