Biography

Kenneth Hayden’s art explores a fantasy world in narrative pictures where animals or imagined figures occupy landscapes or spaces that are at once familiar and alien. Hayden’s saturated color, graphic composition and attention to detail and nuance seduce the viewer. Working in acrylics, mixed media, painted paper collage and carved-and-painted wood elements, many of his paintings have a humorous or innocent appearance while displaying contradictory story-lines implied by titles. Frequently a dystopian subplot threatens to undermine the subjects being portrayed.

Exhibiting since 1978 Hayden’s art has been shown across the US, in Germany and the UK. His work is held in over 20 permanent corporate and institutional collections. Hayden (b.1958) lives and works in Louisville, KY.
